Born in Galveston, Texas, Eraka is a fifth-generation Texan. Her father, Samuel L. Childs, Sr., founded the law firm in which she is the principal shareholder.
Beyond her legal practice, Eraka is a frequent public speaker, an author, and a devoted mother. Earned her Juris Doctor degree in 1997 and began her legal career.
Practiced labor and employment law nationally for ten years, representing corporate clients and conducting complex employee relations investigations.
Traveled internationally to conduct employee relations investigations in the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
Principal shareholder of the firm founded by her father, Samuel L. Childs, Sr., continuing a family legacy of legal service and advocacy.
Eraka's corporate clients have included Honeywell, Union Carbide, Monsanto, Walmart, Lucent Technologies, KBR, Halliburton, Shell, and Lyondell, among many others.
Her corporate work gave her international exposure, sharpened her investigatory skills, and increased her love of international travel.

Her greatest achievement is being the proud mother of Alexandra, a civil engineering major at Prairie View A&M University, and maintaining friendships of more than thirty years.
